Care of your yoni egg

Upon the arrival of your yoni egg, it is nice to reset and clear the gemstone so that it is yours. If the yoni egg is a softer gemstone, like amethyst or rose quartz, this is done by pouring warm just boiled salted water over the stone while in a bowl or cup, and letting it sit in the salt water for ten minutes. For more solid stones like jade, obsidian or bloodstone, you can boil the yoni egg in gently boiling water for ten minutes. Let the water cool down, remove the yoni egg from water once the water is totally cooled down, and wipe the yoni egg with a clean cloth. You can then keep the yoni egg in the untreated cotton pouch we send to keep her clean and unscratched until you are ready to wear her inside of you.

If your yoni egg is drilled, you will need to restring her each time you are going to wear her internally, with unwaxed dental floss. I explain how to do this in the introduction brochure that comes with your yoni egg. After any boiling, soaking or rinsing, be sure to take special care to move any water in the drilled hole, out. You can blow gently into the drilled hole, or use a cloth and gently tap the water out, to be sure the entire egg is clean and dry.

It is encouraged that you let your new gemstone yoni egg be with you for at least a day before wearing her. Creating a resonance in your energy field for this new ally, your yoni egg, which is a living crystal and has her own energy field, will help the process of receiving her into your body feel less foreign or strange. So feel free to wear your yoni egg in your pocket, in your shirt, or under your pillow for a day or two to create a nice comfortable relationship to your yoni egg. The more respect and honoring you give to the crystal and yourself as you begin your practice, the more you will receive and benefit from it.

In between the times you wear your yoni egg, please rinse after each time, and DO NOT USE SOAP. If you ever are in a situation where you question the sterility of the yoni egg, (like if it falls in the toilet) repeat the boiling or setting in hot water again as described above. If you feel like you are moving through a lot with your yoni egg energetically, it can be nice to set your yoni egg in salt water for as long as you’d like, or at least a couple of hours. Salt water clears the crystal of any energies that it may be holding. This can also be done during your moon time (menstruation) while you are not wearing your yoni egg.

Feel free to create a beautiful, honoring space or altar to set your yoni egg in while you aren’t wearing her. This can be as simple as a few flowers or other crystals in a window sill, or as elaborate as an entire table top filled with special items you cherish. Whatever feels creative and special to you, is best. It is also lovely to “charge” our yoni eggs in moonlight on a window sill, in the Earth, or in sacred water. It is important that we take the time to give our yoni egg and ourselves special energy and attention that can nourish the sacred container of our creative energy. This care and attention will ripple and feed all the important facets of our life- physically, spiritually, and sensually.
